Psalms 41, 52; Genesis 37:1-11; 1 Corinthians 1:1-19; Mark 1:1-13

In 1st Corinthians it states, “Grace and Peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Words we as Christians have heard for thousands of years. Words that reassure us that Grace and Peace are granted to us. Words that express that God is our Father and our Lord. Words that have great meaning in our hearts as we hold our Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer. Words we use to encourage each other as Christians.

Grace, what a wonderful word, what a wonderful thought, what a thrilling concept. To be kind, to have mercy, to forgive, to love without having to “earn” it, that is Grace. What a gift our Lord gives us, how blessed we are.

Peace, another word that has great meaning and more importantly great comfort. To be calm, to be silent, to have no fear, to have serenity, to trust completely in the Lord, that is Peace. Another wonderful gift that our Lord has given us.

As I write this meditation we are in the midst of dealing with the earthquake tragedy in Haiti. The country of Haiti means a lot to my family and we are devastated by their loss. I do know that God is with our precious friends and with his presence he brings Grace and Peace. He is our Father and Lord and he will protect our brothers and sisters in Haiti and all of us each and every day. Thank you Lord for your many blessings and gifts.
